The Problem
Could SIBO Be Behind Your Gut Issues?
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) occurs when too many bacteria build up in the small intestine, which normally contains relatively few. This imbalance can cause gas, bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and constipation.
Many people with symptoms similar to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) may actually have SIBO. Testing and identifying SIBO is important because it can be successfully treated in up to 85% of people.

Insights
Test again without paying again
Even after successful treatment, SIBO can return, and symptoms can flare with changes in diet, lifestyle, or over time.
With standard single-use kits, you must buy another kit and wait for results every time you re-test.
With OMED Health, you are never limited to a single SIBO test. You can re-test to check if treatment worked, monitor improvement during recovery, or confirm whether SIBO has come back – all with the same reusable device and expert review each time.

REAL STORIES

How much does the SIBO breath test cost?
Our SIBO breath test at home is available in the UK only and costs £299. This includes the SIBO test kit at home, the OMED Health Breath Analyzer, test substrate, app access, and professional diagnosis.
What is SIBO?
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) occurs when too many bacteria grow in the small intestine, where normally only a small number should be present. This can lead to bloating, gas, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or constipation – symptoms often mistaken for IBS. By completing a hydrogen, methane intestinal bactera test we can assess whether you need treatment.
Why do I need to test for SIBO?
SIBO is a treatable cause of digestive symptoms. If you know you have it you can get onto treatment plans that will make you feel better – around 70–85 % of people with SIBO report relief from symptoms after treatment with targeted antimicrobials or rifaximin antiobiotics
Why isn’t one SIBO test always enough?
Digestive conditions can change. Many people repeat the SIBO breath test at home after completing treatment to check if SIBO has cleared, during diet or lifestyle changes to monitor progress, or if symptoms return months or years later. Traditional kits are single-use, but the OMED Breath Analyzer is reusable, so you can test again without buying a whole new SIBO test kit.
How does the OMED Breath Analyzer work?
You drink a special test solution (substrate) and use the device to collect timed breath samples. This is included in your SIBO test kit. The OMED Health App guides you step by step. Your results are reviewed by experienced clinicians, who provide a clear diagnosis and next steps.
How often can I use the device?
The device is reusable. You can repeat breath tests whenever needed, for example, to check different foods, or to monitor progress during treatment. The device lifetime is two years.
How accurate is the OMED Health test compared with postal kits?
The OMED Health Breath Analyzer has published performance data showing a mean absolute error of ~3.8 ppm for hydrogen and ~2.3 ppm for methane comparable with standard hospital breath testing. This accurate methane measurement is critical and is historically one of the most challenging gases to measure reliably at home. Because you’re not mailing samples, there’s less risk of loss or degradation, and the app reduces user error. Read more here.
Where can I see technical specifications and performance data?
We are committed to openness and transparency. All key performance specifications, including published accuracy data for hydrogen and methane and validation against hospital grade clinical breath testing, are provided below and in data presented at international scientific conferences.

How long does the SIBO home test take?
The entire at home sibo test process usually takes about 2–3 hours, with breath samples collected every 15–20 minutes after you drink the test solution. Results are available quickly through the app.
