What to Expect in Your Report
A single breath test provides a snapshot of how your gut, liver, and environment may be influencing your health, using key chemical markers found in your breath.
Gut Health
- Short and Branched-Chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs and BCFAs) – such as butyric acid and isovaleric acid, known to support immune regulation, energy metabolism, and gut barrier integrity.
- Organic Sulfur Compounds – including dimethyl disulfide and methyl thiocyanate, linked to bacterial overgrowth, infections, and systemic inflammation.
- Aromatic and Sulfur Compounds – come from breaking down protein and sulfur-rich foods like meat, eggs, and garlic. May give clues about microbial balance and digestion.
Liver Health
- Limonene – a natural compound from foods like citrus. Your body clears limonene through the liver and a high level can indicate that your liver is working harder than normal.
Pollution Exposure
- Indoor and Household Chemicals – include solvents from paints, cleaners, and new materials. Suggest possible exposure to indoor air pollutants.
- Smoke and Air Pollution Markers – may indicate exposure to smoke, fuel fumes, or urban air.
- Cooking Emission Compounds – linked to fried, roasted, or flavored foods. Can reflect recent dietary exposure.
Together, these biomarkers paint a detailed picture of your gut microbial activity and its potential impact on your overall health, from metabolic function and immune balance to brain health and disease susceptibility.
